Resurrection preschool was looking for new play experiences for their children. Their goals for being be a preschool of excellence in which children are empowered with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding, compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs led them to want more natural and creative play. To complement an existing play structure a playscape was envisioned that has water play, hills to climb and slide on, shade trees, logs to climb, a nature lab for exploration, and loose parts for building and creative play. Learning Landscapes Design staff developed and detailed a play area that was based on hands-on sensory play. The gently sloping side gave us lots of exciting topography to work with. Grading and surfacing were chosen with universal accessibility in mind.
