The Mountainside Community is focused on connecting family, nature, others, and self. This ideal alpine community attracts individuals and families that want to be together and enjoy nature. A one acre parcel was set aside for a play area for young residents. It is centrally located and has safe connection to the majority of homes. Learning Landscapes Design created a playscape that seems to have grown up from the place and minimizes disturbances to the sensitive alpine ecosystem. Play experiences include running through the forest to slide down a 45’ long slide, hanging out in the tree tops in a play pod, pretending you are a fox and climbing logs and boulders. Plenty of comfortable adult spaces, as well as an amphitheater, round out the adventure area offerings. This feature extends the seasonal opportunities of outdoor play in the community as well as acting as the community heart for young people.
