Legion Park is Woodburn’s oldest park site. This 16 acre city park sits along the Mill Creek Greenway and is within walking distance of many Woodburn homes. The site has a full sized soccer field, stadium, picnic pavilion, and picnic tables all located within a Douglas Fir tree grove. Along the banks of Mill Creek at the western edge of Legion Park, there have been many archaeological discoveries over the years. This led to the installation of an archaeological themed nature play area.
Learning Landscapes was asked to update the master plan for the park to accommodate park improvements. Additions included a new pavilion and restroom building, ADA pathway modification and extensions, a synthetic turf soccer field, new bleachers, a basketball court, expanded play opportunities, an amphitheater, and ‘Energi’ exercise stations along with other site improvements.
