My Dream Destinations: Marmot Adventure Playground Austria
This week we head back to Austria for another amazing adventure play site. This site is inspired by the prevalent local Marmot.
The Austria family trip planning site boasts, “Come along to play and romp around: there’s a children’s marmot room with mini climbing wall, Murmel’s water point, the Murmelhangel for balancing exercises ( I don’t know what this is and could not find a good translation, making it even more intriguing), a giant eagle swing, a river bed, seesaw mushrooms, a trampoline and even a marmot cable car. In winter, there’s no need to wrap up and hibernate, because the Gries Marmot Adventure Playground has an ice rink, a curling rink and a tobogganing hill.”
Maybe it is the amazing setting or the abundance of natural materials, but this site feels like a place I could spend a few days at. I like the lack or right angles and how the natural wood is not formed to fit the piece. The play piece is built around the curves of the natural wood.
